Chapter XVII

OF OFFENCES AGAINST PROPERTY

Of Mischief

Punishment for the mischief described in section 437 committed by fire or explosive substance

438. Whoever commits, or attempts to commit, by fire or any explosive substance, such mischief as is described in the last preceding section, shall be punished with 2[imprisonment] for life, or with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.

    Throughout this Act, except otherwise provided, the words “Bangladesh”, “Government”, “the Government” and “Taka” were substituted, for the words “Pakistan”, “Central or any Provincial Government” or “Central Government or any Provincial Government” or “Central Government” or “the Provincial Government” or “Provincial Government” and “rupees” respectively by section 3 and 2nd Schedule of the Bangladesh Laws (Revision And Declaration) Act, 1973 (Act No. VIII of 1973).
