2. In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,-(1) "Board" means the Board of Industries established under section 3; (2) "Chairman" means the Chairman of the Board; (3) "Director" means the Director of Industries, Bangladesh, and includes any person appointed by the Government to discharge the functions of the Director under this Act; (4) "Industry" means any industrial business or enterprise, including agriculture, undertaken or conducted by any person; (5) "machinery" includes plant, apparatus, tools and other appliances required for carrying on any industrial operation or process; (6) "notification" means a notification published in the official Gazette; (7) "owner" means the person who owns any industrial undertaking, and includes the successors-in-interest of such person in respect of such undertaking; and (8) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules under this Act.
