2. (1) If the Government is of the opinion that it is urgently necessary to provide for the protection of the interests of any industry established in Bangladesh the Government may, by notification in the official Gazette- (a) impose on any goods produced or manufactured in any country outside Bangladesh and imported into Bangladesh a duty of customs of such amount and for such period as it thinks fit; or ¹[* * *] (2) Every duty imposed under sub-section (1) shall be deemed to be a duty leviable under the ²[Customs Act, 1969], and shall be in addition to any duties imposed under that Act or any other law for the time being in force.
