1The Special Marriage Act, 1872

( ACT NO. III OF 1872 )

Court may fine when objection not reasonable
9. Any Court in which any such suit as is referred to in section 7 is filed may, if it shall appear to it that the objection was not reasonable and bonafide, inflict a fine, not exceeding one thousand rupees, on the person objecting, and award it, or any part of it, to the parties to the intended marriage.

    Throughout this Act, except otherwise provided, the words "Government", "Muslim" and "Penal Code" were substituted, for the words "Provincial Government", "Muhammadan" and "Pakistan Penal Code" respectively by section 3 and 2nd Schedule of the Bangladesh Laws (Revision And Declaration) Act, 1973 (Act No. VIII of 1973).
