The Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1956

( ACT NO. VI OF 1956 )

An Act to provide for the appointment of Commissions of Inquiry and for vesting such Commissions with certain powers. 1

 
 
 
WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the appointment of Commissions of Inquiry and for vesting such Commissions with certain powers;
 
 
 
 
It is hereby enacted as follows:-
 
 
 

Short title, extent and commencement
1. (1) This Act may be called the 2[* * *] Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1956.
 
 
 
 
(2) It extends to the whole of 3[Bangladesh].
 
 
 
 
(3) It shall come into force at once.

    Throughout this Act, the word “Government” was substituted for the words “Central Government” by section 3 and the Second Schedule of the Bangladesh Laws (Revision And Declaration) Act, 1973 (Act No. VIII of 1973)

    The word “Pakistan” was omitted by Article 6 of the Bangladesh (Adaptation of Existing Laws) Order, 1972 (President’s Order No. 48 of 1972)

    The word “Bangladesh” was substituted for the word “Pakistan” by section 3 and the Second Schedule of the Bangladesh Laws (Revision And Declaration) Act, 1973 (Act No. VIII of 1973)
