Chapter V

ELECTION DISPUTES

1[49. (1) No election shall be called in question except by an election petition presented by a candidate for that election in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter.
 
 
 
 
(2) An election petition shall be presented to the High Court Division within such time as may be prescribed.
 
 
 
 
(3) An election petition shall be accompanied by as many copies thereof as there are respondents mentioned in the petition and every such copy shall be attested by the petitioner under his own signature to be a true copy of the petition.
 
 
 
 
(4) At the time of presenting an election petition, the petitioner shall deposit in the High Court Division in accordance with the rules of the High Court Division a sum of 2[Taka five thousand] as security for the costs of the petition.]
