27. (1) The University shall include the Faculties of Arts, Science, Social Sciences, [Business Studies], Law, Medicine, Fine Arts and such other Faculties (whether formed by the division or combination of an existing Faculty or Faculties, or by the creation of a new Faculty or otherwise) as may be prescribed by the Statutes and each Faculty shall, subject to the control of the Academic Council, have charge of the teaching and the courses of study and the research work in such subjects as may be assigned to such Faculty by the University Ordinances.
(2) The constitution and powers of the Faculties shall be prescribed by the Statutes.
(3) The Faculties shall be advisory bodies and their decisions shall be submitted to the Syndicate through the Academic Council for implementation.
(4) There shall be a Dean of each Faculty, who shall, subject to the control and general supervision of the Vice-Chancellor, be responsible for the due observance of the Statutes, University Ordinances and Regulations relating to the Faculty.
(5) The Dean of a Faculty shall be elected from among the Professors [and Associate Professors] by all teachers belonging to the Departments within the Faculty and shall hold office for two academic years.
(6) The Faculties shall recommend creation of posts up to the Assistant Professorship. Creation of higher posts shall be with the concurrence of the Boards of Advanced Studies.
