12. (1) The Managing Board shall appoint a Secretary-General and a Deputy Secretary-General of the Society on such terms and conditions as may be determined by the Managing Board : Provided that any person so appointed, who is not a life member of the Society, shall, within thirty days of his appointment, become a life member of the Society. (2) There shall be a Secretariat of the Society and the Secretary-General shall be the head of the Secretariat, and in the absence of the Secretary-General, the Deputy Secretary-General shall act as such head and perform all the functions of the Secretary-General. (3) The Chairman of the Society may, subject to confirmation by the Managing Board, make provisional appointment of the Secretary-General and the Deputy Secretary-General.
