¹[54A. (1) No inland ship shall proceed on any voyage or be used for any service without a written permission from the registrar to ply in coastal water. (2) The registrar shall issue a written permission referred to in sub-section (1) in such manner and on such conditions as may be specified by the Director-General in this behalf. (3) The permission to ply in coastal water shall remain valid till the validity of the survey certificate referred to in section 11. (4) The Government may exempt any inland ship from the operation of this section for a maximum period of three months.
