The Defence Services (Supreme Command) Ordinance, 1979

Exercise of supreme command by the President
2. (1) The President shall be the Supreme Commander of the Defence Services and shall exercise the supreme command of the defence services vested in him under Article 61 of the Constitution through the Chiefs of Staff of the defence services.
 
 
 
 
(2) The Chiefs of Staff of the defence services shall exercise their command over the forces under them subject to the general direction and control of the President.
