(1) The Ombudsman shall, subject to this section, hold office for a term of three years from the date on which he enters upon his office, and shall be eligible for reappointment for one further term. (2) The Ombudsman shall not be removed from his office except by an order of the President passed pursuant to a resolution of Parliament supported by a majority of not less than two-thirds of the total number of members of Parliament on the ground of proved misconduct or physical incapacity: Provided that no such resolution shall be passed until the Ombudsman has been given a reasonable opportunity of being heard in person. (3) The Ombudsman may resign his office by writing under his hand addressed to the President.
