The Standards of Weights and Measures Ordinance, 1982

Penalty for contravention of section 16
36. Whoever obstructs the authorised person in the exercise of his powers or discharge of his functions as authorised person, or with intent to prevent or deter the authorised person from exercising his powers or discharging his functions, or in consequence of any thing done or attempted to be done by the authorised person in the lawful exercise of his powers or discharge of his functions as such, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 1[two years, or with fine which may extend to fifteen thousand Taka, or with both, and, for the second or subsequent offence, with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years and also with fine].

    The words and commas “two years, or with fine which may extend to fifteen thousand Taka, or with both, and, for the second or subsequent offence, with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years and also with fine” were substituted for the words and commas “two years, and, for the second or subsequent offence, with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years” by section 10 of the Standards of Weights and Measures (Amendment) Act, 2001 (Act No. VI of 2001).
