85. (1) Subject to any law for the time being in force, the Corporation may provide, or cause to be provided to the City a supply of wholesome water sufficient for public and private purposes. (2) The Corporation may, and if so required by the Government, shall, in the prescribed manner, frame and execute a water supply scheme for the construction and maintenance of such works for the provision, storage and distribution of water as may be necessary. (3) Where a piped water supply is provided, the Corporation may supply water to private and public premises in such manner and on payment of such charges as the by-laws may provide.
