The Local Government (Union Parishads) Ordinance, 1983

Persons not to be candidate for two offices
 
 
8. (1) A person shall not, at the same time, be a candidate for election to the offices of Chairman and 1[* * *] member of a Union Parishad.
 
 
 
 
(2) If a person offers himself, at the same time, to be a candidate for election to the offices of Chairman and 2[* * *] member, all his nomination papers shall stand void.
 
 
 
 
(3) When the office of Chairman falls vacant during the term of the Union Parishad, a member may contest the election to the office of Chairman, and if he is elected, his membership shall cease on the date he makes the oath of office of Chairman.
