127. The District Judge having jurisdiction over the area shall constitute Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal (hereinafter referred to as Claims Tribunal) for that area for the purposes of adjudicating upon claims for compensation in respect of accidents involving the death of, or bodily injury to, or damages to any property of persons arising out of the use of motor vehicles: Provided that in such districts where there is no District Judge, the Government may appoint a person who is or has been a District Judge to be Claims Tribunal.
