GENERAL RULES OF CONSTRUCTION

Gender and number
13. In all 1[Acts of Parliament] and Regulations, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,-
 
 
(1) words importing the masculine gender shall be taken to include females; and
 
 
(2) words in the singular shall include the plural, and vice versa.

    The words "Acts of Parliament" were substituted, for the words "Central Acts" by Article 8 of the General Clauses (Amendment) Order, 1972 (President's Order No. 147 of 1972)
