18.(1) When an order has been passed by a Juvenile Court or a Magistrate under section 14 for the custody of a girl, such Court or Magistrate may order the parent or other person liable to maintain the girl to contribute to her maintenance, if able to do so, in the prescribed manner.(2) The Court or Magistrate, before making an order under sub-section (1), shall inquire into the circumstances of the parent or other person liable to maintain the girl and shall record the evidence, if any, in the presence of the parent or such other person, as the case may be, if he appears, or, when his personal attendance is dispensed with, in the presence of his pleader.(3) Any order made under this section may be enforced in the same manner as an order under section 488 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
