A Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer, Presiding Officer, Assistant Presiding Officer, Polling Officer or any other officer or clerk performing any duty in connection with an election, or any member of a police force, is guilty of an offence punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to ¹[five years and shall not be less than one year, and also with fine], if he, in the conduct or management of an election or maintenance of order at a polling station,-(1) persuades any person to give his vote;(2) dissuades any person from giving his vote;(3) influences in any manner the voting of any person; or(4) does any other act calculated to influence the result of the election.
