CHAPTER XVI
OF OFFENCES AFFECTING THE HUMAN BODY
 
  Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others  
338. Whoever causes grievous hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life, or the personal safety of others, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extent to two years, or with fine which may extend to 2[ five thousand taka], or with both.
 
 
 
1 Throughout this Act, except otherwise provided, the words “Bangladesh”, “Government”, “the Government” and “Taka” were substituted, for the words “Pakistan”, “Central or any Provincial Government” or “Central Government or any Provincial Government” or “Central Government” or “the Provincial Government” or “Provincial Government” and “rupees” respectively by section 3 and 2nd Schedule of the Bangladesh Laws (Revision And Declaration) Act, 1973 (Act No. VIII of 1973).

2 The words “five thousand taka” were substituted, for the words “one thousand taka” by section 6 of the Penal Code (Amendment) Ordinance, 1982 (Ordinance No. X of 1982)
