1 THE POLICE ACT, 1861

  Additional Inspector-General of Police, etc  
2[ 4A. (1) The Government may, whenever necessary appoint an Additional Inspector-General of Police.

(2) The Additional Inspector-General of Police so appointed shall discharge any of the functions of the Inspector-General of Police which the Inspector-General of Police may assign to him, and in the discharge of those functions, he shall exercise the same powers as the Inspector-General of Police.]
 
 
 
1 Throughout this Act, except otherwise provided, the words “Government” and “Taka” were substituted, for the words “Provincial Government” and “rupees” respectively by section 3 and 2nd Schedule of the Bangladesh Laws (Revision And Declaration) Act, 1973 (Act No. VIII of 1973).

2 Section 4A was inserted by section 3 of the Police (Amendment) Act, 1968 (Act No. IV of 1968).
