The Registration Act, 1908

( ACT NO. XVI OF 1908 )

Registration of contract for sale, etc.

1[17A. (1) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in this Act or any other law for the time being in force, a contract for sale of any immovable property shall be in writing, executed by the parties thereto and registered.

 
 

(2) A contract for sale referred to in sub-section (1) shall be presented for registration within 2[sixty] days from the date of execution of the contract and the provisions regarding registration of instruments shall apply.
